Dr Bill Mahanna
Global Nutritional Sciences Manager, Pioneer
Adjunct Professor, Iowa University, USA

Bill Mahanna was raised on a commercial Holstein dairy in upstate New York. He has worked with dairy producers throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Ukraine, China, and Japan and has been a featured speaker at numerous dairy nutrition and management seminars.

Bill has been with Pioneer for 38 years in positions ranging from Technical Service Nutritionist to Product Line Manager (corn silage, alfalfa, silage inoculants).

He is currently the manager of the Pioneer Global Nutritional Sciences Team responsible for providing technical support to sales agents and livestock customers and providing input to Pioneer researchers/breeders to develop products to meet the needs of the dairy/beef industry.

Scott McDonald
Program Manager & Dairy Development Specialist, Agriculture Victoria

Scott McDonald, Program Manager Dairy Services and a Dairy Development Specialist with Agriculture Victoria has an established reputation as one of Australia's leading technical experts in effluent system design and farm infrastructure planning, with over 30 years’ experience.

As a technical adviser and national trainer to industry stakeholders and government agencies, Scott has completed nearly 2000 farm visits across Australia, New Zealand and Austria as well as 42 publications ranging from national and state guidelines and codes, national training packages, online planning tools and technical notes. The recent publication being: The National Dairy Feedpads and Contained Housing Guidelines 2024 written in partnership with Dairy Australia.

Ian Lean
Founder & Managing Director, Scibus
Adjunct Professor, University of Sydney

Ian Lean is Managing Director of Scibus, a company that consults with dairy and beef producers across Australia and other countries. Scibus works with public and private research organizations to deliver high quality research on transition nutrition of dairy cows, calf feeding and ruminal acidosis.

Ian has been deeply involved with the MLA Pathways project to improve beef eating quality. Scibus were instrumental in delivering the Dairy Beef study, the largest of its type in the world.

He has a deep knowledge of factors influencing farm profit from a biological and economic perspective and has presented nationally and internationally on these.
